He was handled by Becky Voss and Jim Basham for his DC/AFC titles.
Rice Creek's B and C litters came to be after a LONG time of
planning. When Linda Sanders bred her "X" litter, Shelley wanted
a puppy something awful from that breeding!! (She's ALWAYS trying to get
good future stud dogs up here in Minnesota - so she doesn't have to go so
far!!)
Shelley was not in the position to get another dog at that time,
and when Dan and Becky Voss lost their Gordon, Shelley told them about this
awesome breeding. She then called Linda and encouraged her to sell a male pup to
the Voss'.
Well, the Voss' brought Rater (DC/AFC
Chaparral XLO Rater XL Lent MH) home. Not soon after, Rater was
brought here for training to eventually get his Master Hunter title. Joe
started training Rater early for that Master title - and we believe Rater is
still the youngest Master Hunter Gordon in the country. Rater was handled
in the Senior and Master tests by Dan.
When Rater got big enough to become a stud dog, Shelley was
knocking on Dan and Becky's door. He may not have had many of his titles
yet - but we knew he had the "stuff" needed and the blood in
him. When Dan and Becky were here to pick their pup, they had to pick
between Bubba and Zuke - it wasn't a tough choice for them. Bubba was a
HUGE puppy - and Dan and Becky had that "dual" in mind, so they picked
the pup with a little less bone-a smart choice for their future goal.
Achieving a dual championship is not an easy task. It
takes a lot of time, money and effort on the owners' part. Dan and Becky
had experience after achieving Rater's DC/AFC titles, and they started right in
with Zuke. We applaud their efforts and truly believe that Zuke is one
happy camper!! We're sure he'll be looking forward to MORE HUNTING in the
future!! Congratulations, Dan and Becky!
